These proteins give a connective framework and definite structure to the in body. These proteins give structure to various parts of body. For example keratin that can be found in skin, hair and nail. Protein helps to maintain the concentration of acids as well as bases in your blood and other fluids. The pH of body is usually measure by the help of ph scale, ranging from 0 to 14, where 0 is considered the most acidic, 7 being the neutral and 14 is considered the most alkaline.
Everything has a pH value, for example stomach’s pH value is 2, tomato juice has a pH value 4, black coffee too has a pH value that is 5, pH of human blood is 7.5, milk of magnesia has a pH value 10, and pH of soapy water is 12.
Protein plays its role as a buffer system to allow the body fluids to be in their normal pH. It is important to maintain the pH of the body because slight change can cost your life.
Protein maintains body fluids
Proteins look after the body process that helps to maintain body fluids. Proteins such as albumin and globulin present in blood that maintains the body fluids balance. They maintain the balance by attracting and retaining water.
If you don’t eat proper amount of proteins, it may result a protein deficiency in your body. If your body is not having good amount of protein, the levels of albumin and globulin will simultaneously decreases.
If albumin and globulin decreases the, the flow of blood through blood vessels will stop and the body fluids will occupy the space between the cell resulting in inflammation, swelling or edema. Mostly this happens in stomach region. If this persists, your body can develop kwashiorkor (protein malnutrition).

Protein helps in making antibodies (immunoglobulin) to tackle down infections in the body. Proteins develop antibodies in blood in order to protect the body from foreign harmful invader like bacteria, viruses, etc. If there are no antibodies in the blood, you will be open to any harmful virus or bacteria that can make you fall seriously ill.
But if you body has produced antibodies that know a particular bacteria or virus, the next time it will kill the infection by making its antibodies. If you have a great immunity, the body prepares itself to fight against the invaders.
